Traditional Indian Way of Popcorn Making

The Traditional method of making Popcorns with Black Salt and Sand mixtures. The mixture of Salt and Sand distributes the heat around the Kernels evenly to pop them out after which the Popcorns are extracted sifting the rest out. The Indians methods for popping corn varied from tribe to tribe and time to time. Apparently heated Sand is placed in the pots, then placed the corn on the sand and heat from the sand popped the kernels. The heavier sand stayed at the bottom of the pot, and the popped kernels rose above it where easily removed.
